Helping Companions began with a personal belief: everyone deserves to feel heard, connected and important to someone.
Read our storyAn entrepreneur, wife and mother of five, Natalie has always put family at the heart of her life. Helping Companions grew from something she witnessed firsthand: the isolation older adults can experience, and the difference a caring presence can make.
During the pandemic, Natalie mobilized her community to provide hundreds of digital devices to seniors, helping them stay connected when being together was difficult. That effort revealed a deeper need for companionship—and how many older adults lacked a local circle of support.
When her mother-in-law experienced health challenges, Natalie and her family saw how difficult it could be to navigate care alone. Stepping in together changed that experience. Her mother-in-law later became a companion herself, giving back through the kind of support she had received.
Those experiences inspired Helping Companions: a community where clients and companions can build meaningful relationships through shared interests, stories and the small moments of everyday life.

Why we’re here
We want to make room for conversation, shared interests and the simple pleasure of being together. A coffee, a walk, a game of cards or a new friendship—connection can begin with something ordinary.
A personal approach
Choosing someone to spend time with is personal. We take the time to understand both people before suggesting an introduction.
Every client and companion is vetted for fit with our community. We review each profile and meet each person by video to discuss expectations, interests and respect for boundaries before an introduction.
Interests, language, personality, availability and expectations help us make a thoughtful introduction.
Meet in person or by video, with a trusted family member or friend if you wish. Both people decide whether they would like to continue.
Profiles also let people share their preferences about a Police Vulnerable Sector Check. A check is one consideration in the matching process; it is not, by itself, a guarantee of suitability or safety.
